Abortion glossary :: Baby

A baby is an infant who is in their earliest stage of extra-uterine life, that extends to 1 year for most, and up to 2 years for some.  Growing beyond the "baby" stage is most commonly marked by the demonstrable ability to assume an erect posture (assuming that a disability or disorder isn't impeding normal motor skills).

After birth, a human baby is officially recognized as a person (a.k.a., a human being), and it's common for nearly all countries to issue a certificate of birth that notes the birth date, and, far less commonly, the birth time (of which an approximation may substitute the absence of the exact time).

After birth, some medical concepts of abortion procedures may be utilized to prevent post-pregnancy complications, such as the removal of any remaining parts of the placenta or other tissues that are no longer needed, which is essential in ensuring an easier and healthier recovery.
