Abortion glossary :: Conceptus

A conceptus is the complete product of conception, from fertilization to parturition, which includes the oocyte (fertilized), zygote, morula, blastocyst, embryo, foetus, placenta, all surrounding membranes, and other life-support tissues.

Conceptus components

The word "conceptus" is used by scientists, doctors, nurses, etc., when discussing the developing intra-uterine organism, placenta, membranes, and life-support tissues as a complete group.
