Abortion glossary :: Miscarriage

Miscarriage is a natural process that is not preventable in many instances (our glossary entry on spontaneous abortion lists many causes of miscarriages).

If someone is blaming you for your miscarriage, then they are probably trying to manipulate you -- you should distance yourself while surrounding yourself with family and/or friends who aren't manipulative.  You should also mention this to your family physician because it can help them to better-understand your situation, and they will likely recommend professionals who can help you develop healthier relationships (this is an essential aspect of having better pregnancies).

Important note

It is important to consult with your family physician as soon as possible upon miscarrying, in case medical treatment and/or prescription medication is needed to prevent something minor developing into a major problem, which helps to ensure the best possible outcome.  The sooner you consult with your physician, the better your outcome is likely to be.
