Abortion glossary :: Reproductive Coercion (forced pregnancy)
"Reproductive coercion," which is also known as "forced pregnancy," is the tradition (e.g., a marriage that was arbitrarily arranged by relatives) or practice (e.g., a breeding programme that may be a component of a human slavery network) of intentionally forcing a person to become pregnant against their will.
Forcing a person to become pregnant is a violation of human rights and freedoms, and may also qualify as sexual assault (a.k.a., "rape") due to the absence or violation of the victim's informed and freely-given consent.
